In January 2023, the PA Department of Environmental Protection released the final 2022 Pennsylvania State Water Plan, along with an interactive online atlas of statewide water resources and use trends. The purpose of the plan is to inform leaders' decision making and educate PA residents on sustainable use of our water resources. This plan includes 100 actions that are recommended throughout the state in regards to floodplain and stormwater management, water withdrawal policy, and contaminants of emerging concern.
The plan was developed in collaboration with over 100 water resource professionals and includes public feedback from the draft plan release in August 2022. The State Water Plan is updated every 5 years.
