This program has been renewed in 2022 due to an allocation of $105.6 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Applications will be accepted between October 1, 2022 and December 21, 2022.
The PA DCED's Small Water and Sewer Program provides grants to assist municipalities with the construction, improvement, expansion, or repair of their water supplies or sanitary sewer systems. Small water and sewer projects receiving approval range from the construction of a new pump station to ensure reliable-long term public drinking water and fire protection; the replacement of vitrified clay sewer pipe with new PVC pipe that can meet system demand during storm events; the replacement of old and leaky fire hydrants that contribute to contaminated water; and the construction of new water storage tanks in Valley View. Other projects have included improvements and replacements of water mains, water treatment plants, sewer systems, and water line extensions in hundreds of municipalities in 49 counties across the commonwealth.
A listing of funded projects is attached. Projects highlighted in yellow were funded in 2020.
Focuses on smaller projects -- between $30,000 and $500,000.
